Blame it on Hollywood for the dramatic increase in cosmetic dentistry.
Thanks to those stars with the dazzling white teeth and photo-op grins, more Americans are choosing to brighten up their smiles with veneers, teeth whitening and oral laser surgery.
In fact, according to the American Dental Association, more than $35 billion a year is spent on cosmetic dentistry. But $10 billion of that is being spent on correcting botched dental makeovers, states the American Academy of Esthetic Dentistry.
To eliminate that risk, many cosmetic dentists are choosing to place Lumineers.
Unlike traditional veneers, Lumineers do not require any removal of sensitive tooth structure, making the need for anesthesia or pain shots unnecessary. They give patients a glamorous smile, but also preserve and protect the natural teeth - something that traditional veneers are unable to do.
"I'm shocked when I see the damage done by some cosmetic dentists," said Dr. Louis Kaufman, a Lumineers dentist based in Chicago. "A Lumineers procedure is so minimally invasive that it can fix virtually any botched smile makeover."
Because Lumineers leave original teeth intact, the process is reversible. In addition, Lumineers provide instant teeth straightening and permanent whitening, which makes them a convenient alternative to braces and other orthodontics. They may also be placed over crowns and bridges to improve aesthetics.
More than 9,000 dentists now use Lumineers, which are made from Cerinate porcelain. Lumineers restorations are ultra-thin, yet strong enough to resist any micro-cracking, which can typically damage restorations.
Lumineers have garnered numerous professional awards as well as a spot in Dental Products Report's "Top 10 Products" list and "5 Pluses" in an ongoing two-year study in Dental Advisor.
When it comes to buying beauty products and beauty supplies, you will find that you have a number of different options. For starters, beauty products are most commonly sold at beauty supply stores, but they are also available at other locations, including department stores and fashion stores. If you are looking for the latest selection of beauty products and supplies, you may want to think about sticking with beauty supply stores. Even then though you still have a choice. Beauty supply stores are operated both in storefront retail locations, as well as online.
If this is your first time deciding to take your appearance, beauty wise, seriously, you may have never shopped at a beauty supply store before or it may have been a while since the last time that you did. If that is the case, you may be wondering whether you should shop online or locally and if there is even a difference between the two. If you are, you will want to continue reading on.
One of the most commonly asked questions, concerning beauty supply stores, is what is the difference between a locally operated beauty supply store and an online beauty supply store. As you likely already know, a locally owned and operated beauty store is one that you physically visit, pick out what you like, pay for it, and then leave. When shopping at an online store, you just need to enter in your shipping information and your payment information. You can buy beauty products and supplies from an online beauty store anytime of the day, from the comfort of your own home.
Another difference between a storefront beauty supply store and an online beauty supply store is the assistance that you will receive. That is one of the reasons why many consumers prefer buying their beauty supplies and products from locally owned and operated beauty supply stores. When shopping online, the online retailer in question may have a customer service number that you can call, but you will likely not be able to receive help with buying makeup or suggestions. Help and suggestions, also commonly known as consultations, are one of the many reasons why many prefer shopping at a locally owned and operated beauty supply store, as most have very helpful and knowledgeable staff members.
The product selection is also something that you may want to think about taking into consideration. While many storefront beauty supply stores do carry a large selection of beauty product and supplies, you may find that some stores are limited on space. There are also stores that focus only on certain individuals, like men or women. This limits your selection of beauty supplies and products to choose from. What is nice about online beauty supply stores is that they do not have to worry about fitting all of their merchandise onto a sales floor. That is why you can often find a large selection of beauty supplies and products when shopping online. Also, you will find that you are instantly able to gain access to as many as fifty or more beauty supply stores in a matter of seconds. This is something that you cannot do just driving around town in your car.
As you can see, there are a few differences between online beauty supply stores and locally owned and operated beauty supply stores. There are also a number of pros and cons to each. For the best shopping experience, you may actually want to think about experimenting with both locally owned and operated beauty supply stores and online beauty supply stores. If you are like many shoppers, you will likely develop a preference almost right away.

Some of you might think that skin-care routines are for ladies. If you are into business like me, fetching million dollar deals are worth the time spend than doing your own facial cleansing and routine checkup. But don't ever forget that your first impression always last longer in your customers' head than you would expect. A good looking with nice clean facial skin may prove to be your ultimate prerequisite in striking your negotiation deal. Here are some of the do's and don'ts in getting the perfect skin.
Do's of perfect skin
Do exercise. Physically fit people look good and feel good. Exercise improves internal circulation to bring oxygen and nutrients to the skin. This makes skin firmer and better nourished, as well as slows down aging. Regular exercise also helps improve your appearance, prolong your life, build self-confidence and reshape your figure. Your improved circulation will help to calm the nerves and promote a more revitalizing sleep. Move more, feel younger, and look better!
Do use products. Cleanse your face everyday with cleanser, toner and moisturizer. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of different brands and makes to choose from, but always use products suitable for your skim type, whether it is oily or dry. Have a good consultation from the skincare expert to determine the best suitable type of product for your skin.
Do drink water. A major cause of skim winkles is water loss from the skim. Water hydrates skin, keeping it moist, soft and supple. Drink at least 6 to 8 glasses of water a day. If you are like me, bring a small bottle of water in your briefcase so you can always have water to drink whenever you go.
Do rest. Lack of sleep makes your skin look dry and dull, and your eyes will become puffy. When we don't have enough sleep or rest, we feel tired and listless. We need an average of 8 hours of sleep every night, but many of us have only 5 to 6 hours. The effects of inadequate sleep will start to show as you age.
Do eat properly. Keep your vitamin up by eating at least 5 portions of fruits or vegetables daily. If you are not getting enough vitamins from good, take multivitamin supplements. Stay away from fatty foods, as they will make your skin greasy.
The Don'ts
Don't smoke. Smoking restricts blood flow to and from the skin, and adds to toxin levels. It also robs the skin of its vitality and potential for being smooth and attractive. People who smoke tend to have pallid complexion and skin that wrinkles prematurely.
Don't drink too much alcohol. Alcohol can dehydrate the skin and impede circulation. This depletes the skin's moisture content and interrupts the flow of vitamins and minerals needed for a healthy complexion.
Don't stress out. Stress is bad for your physical and mental health, and also bad for your skin. It can cause your face to suffer breakouts of pimples, inflammation and make it look sensitive and dull. Relax!
Don't fry in the sun. Use a high factor sunscreen with SP15 or higher rating when the sun's rays are strongest. It's best to avoid the sun's rays whenever possible. Don't overdo sun beds as they can also damage your skin, cause dryness and increase the risk of skin cancer. The safest sun tan is to get a fake one.
If you are female, always remove makeup before going to bed, because makeup left on overnight is a major cause of clogged pores that lead to blackhead formation and pimple breakouts. Cleanse twice after removing makeup - once for removing surface impurities, another time for deep pore cleansing.
Never use soap because its harshness upsets the PH balance and removes the natural moisture barrier of your skin. Use a soap-free, acid-balanced cleanser instead. If you like the lathering effect of soap, search for a foaming, lathering cleanser.
Lukewarm water is best for cleansing. Water that is too cold or too hot can cause dehydration, irritation and may increase breakouts. Apply a non-astringent toner after cleansing to rehydrate your skin and to reestablish the PH balance.
Tanned skin is loved by most of the white skinned people. Who will say that he/she does not like tanned skin? What about the cost of getting tanned skin? I am not talking in term of dollars, but life. It is death due to skin cancer. There are many ideas about tanning that people believe and think that they are safe. Let us talk about them.
Many of us believe that use of tanning oils on skin and then getting tanned is safe. But that is not true. No tanning oil prevents the sun. If it had prevented sun, you would not have got tanned! Tanning skin is only due to the UV radiation and radiation damages and causes skin cancer.
A swim after tanning skin protects the skin. This is another belief of many people. Please note that no amount of swimming after getting tanned saves the skin. Once the skin gets tanned, it is damaged. Swimming without application of a sunscreen is very bad because water reflects more UV radiation. The radiation near the beach is more than on the ground away from beach.
Skin that is tanned is in danger. Protect your life by avoiding all types of tanning. Use tanning cosmetics to get artificial color if you want, but don’t damage your skin with tan. Tanning beds, sun lamps and sun all are bad for skin.

Thanks to technological advances, experts in dermatology have been able to observe the effect that our diet has on our skin’s texture and appearance.
Many recent studies in dermatology confirm that the most significant factor in skincare does not only depend on the cosmetics that we apply (which, of course, do make a difference) but also largely on our diet.
So…which diet should we implement to look great?
WATER
Our body is 70 percent water; therefore, it’s logical that any lack of sufficient water intake will affect our appearance.
That’s why drinking water is undoubtedly the easiest and most efficient way of preventing the signs of aging, maintaining the skin smooth and the body healthy.
HOW DOES WATER AFFECT OUR SKIN?
Water eliminates the toxins in our body that are daily stored up through contact with pollutants, tobacco smoke, stress and other sources of free radical formation. Concretely, free radicals are the principal cause of skin diseases and premature aging.
Water not only gives skin a more youthful appearance but also eliminates all of these elements, which cause the appearance of acne. Acne is formed by the accumulation of bacteria, oil, dead skin and dirt on the skin. Even for those with oily skin and problems with acne, water is needed to wash away both internal and external impurities.
Additionally, water helps vitamins and nutrients to easily flow throughout the body. In particular, it collaborates with all of the body’s organs to distribute vitamins E, C and B12, which help maintain the skin smooth and young.
HOW MUCH WATER DO I NEED TO DRINK DAILY?
Normally it’s recommended that a person drink at least a liter and a half of water, although many dermatologists recommend increasing the dose to two or three daily liters.
WHEN IS IT ESSENTIAL TO DRINK WATER?
It’s very important to drink and recuperate lost fluid after exercising or sunbathing. Don’t forget that water is good not only for your organism but also for your outward appearance.
WATER INSIDE AND WATER OUTSIDE
When cleansing facial skin or the body, it’s best that the water be lukewarm. Very hot water can dry out the skin excessively, but at an adequate temperature, its cleansing power is enormous.
BEAUTY TRICK
Drink water in the morning; it will help eliminate a puffy or swollen face.
Who would have thought that water would end up being one of the most relevant beauty secrets in the new millennium?
Know Your Skin Type
First of all it’s important to know you’re skin type so that you can select skin care products to suit you. Do you have normal skin, dry skin, dehydrated skin, oily skin, mature skin, or sensitive skin?
Dry or Very Dry Skin
Products with a high cream and oil content are beneficial. Avoid using soap and detergent based products on the face and neck as these can be drying. Oil-based face masks are soothing and hydrating fro dry skin.
Dehydrated Skin
Drink plenty of water to keep hydrated, aim for 2 litres per day.
Oily Skin
Cleansing and moisturising milks or lotions have a higher water content and a lighter consistency and are less likely to cause congestion. Be careful not to over exfoliate the skin as this can stimulate increased production of oil.
Combination Skin
Treat the different areas of the face with products specific to their needs. For example light formulation in the oilier T Zone area and richer creamier products in the dry areas. The skin will benefit from a hydrating mask on the cheeks and a deep cleansing mask on the forehead, nose and chin.
Mature Skin Care
As with dry skin choose richer creamier oil based products. Skin may be thin or have broken capillaries so it should always be treated with great care and very little pressure. Firming and anti ageing products are highly beneficial, as are specific neck and eye care products.
Sensitive Skin Tips
Not only is sensitive skin more likely to react to product ingredients, but also the damaging effects of the sun can be felt more easily. It is advisable to use an SPF of 50. A gentle peeling product that doesn’t contain granules is gentler on the skin than an exfoliating scrub.
Now that we’ve looked at different skin types, what kind of facial therapy products are out there and what can they do for your skin?
Facial Cleanser
These remove make up leaving skin clean and free from impurities. Some cleansers are gentle enough to be used on the eye area but if you wear waterproof mascara you will require a specific eye makeup remover.
Toning Lotion
These remove traces of cleanser, refreshes the skin and has a temporary tightening effect upon the pores. Refreshes the skin and helps to restore the skin’s PH.
Moisturiser
Often described as day creams or hydrating lotions, they nourish the skin to leave it soft and smooth. Oil and water emulsions attract water to the skin and prevent moisture loss by evaporation. Moisturiser should be applied to the skin after cleansing and toning. Some moisturising creams and lotions contain SPF and help protect the skin against environmental damage. Not only do moisturisers hydrate and condition the skin, they provide an excellent base for makeup application.
Eye creams
Eye Creams are specially designed to moisturise and protect the delicate skin around the eye. They often contain collagen, oils and vitamins and some contain light diffusing particles to help draw attention away from dark circles beneath the eyes.
Neck Creams
Neck moisturising and firming creams are more hydrating than ordinary moisturisers. In our 20s and 30s our usual moisturiser is usually sufficient to nourish the neck and décolletage, but by our 40s and beyond the neck often requires more intense hydration. The added benefits of collagen and elastin are believed to help prevent sagging and ageing thus maintaining a youthful appearance.
Exfoliation
Exfoliating products are creams or gels that contain small particles which gently scrub the skin to remove dead skin from the surface revealing fresh, new skin beneath. By loosening surface blockages they help improve and prevent breakouts and give a healthy glow to previously tired looking complexions. Exfoliators are a great way to even out a fading tan.
Face Masks
There are a variety of different formulations of face mask available that perform different actions. Facial masks are a relaxing and therapeutic part of a skin care routine. They increase circulation and improve the overall colour of the skin.
A deep cleansing mask removes traces of trapped dirt, debris and oil. They’re mildly exfoliating. Dry flaky areas of skin are replaced with soft, smooth skin. Toning and refining masks soothe tired skin. Skin is freshened and revitalised and pores appear smaller leaving a more refined complexion. Nourishing and hydrating masks contain soothing moisturising ingredients which hydrate the skin leaving it soft and smooth. They also soothe tired looking skin.
Sun screens and sun blocks
A facial sunscreen is an essential all year round beauty aid. Choose one with an SPF of at least 15. Even on dull days the suns rays penetrate the atmosphere and the damaging effects upon the skin accumulate gradually resulting in pigmentation and premature ageing. In more extreme circumstances, this can lead to sunburn and permanent scarring.
It took two caring, creative mothers and their teenage daughters to create a line of skin care products that promotes a healthy attitude toward beauty and self-esteem.
"The teenage years can be awkward both physically and emotionally for teens," said Susan Shand, one of the co-founders of Tess (Teen Everyday Skincare System). So Shand, co-founder Sheri Poe and their daughters created a brand that celebrates the personal, individual beauty of each teenage girl.
To find out what teens wanted and needed, Shand and Poe spoke with hundreds of teens and their mothers. Today, the Tess Advisory Panel-made up of girls 13 to 17-provides opinions on everything from naming, scents and packaging design.
They created products formulated with natural fruit and botanical extracts, essential oils and vitamins to cleanse, tone, moisturize and protect teenage skin. The products feature paraben-free blends of natural ingredients such as aloe vera gel, lavender oil and extracts of chamomile, green tea, hibiscus flower, comfrey, white willowbark, lemon peel, apple and strawberry.
There are two, easy-to-use, "day to night" skin care kits for combination and problem skin and eight full-sized "a la carte" products. For many girls, an easy-to-use kit can help them start the good habit of taking care of their skin, making the kits a great back-to-school gift.
For example, the Skin with Attitude Kit is formulated for teens with blemish-prone skin. It features Scrub-It-Off Strawberry/Jojoba Facial Cleanser, This Is Your Wake-Up Call Orange Facial Toner, Take No Prisoners Peppermint Serious Blemish Stick, Out and About SPF15 Lavender Oil-Free Lotion, Perfect Pout Strawberry Healing Lip Gloss and Put on Your PJs And Vanilla Oil-Free Healing Night Cream.
Packaged in classic, clean, simple bottles and tubes with fun, lighthearted product names and colorful accents of watermelon, lime, tangerine and sky blue, the packaging also features empowering statements such as "take charge," "dare to dream," "speak your mind" and "never settle" to provide daily inspiration.
How did we as a people get to the point where we spend billions annually on cosmetics and it became the social standard for women to wear cosmetics everyday It is certain a female way back in old times did not just wake up one morning and decide to put on eyelashes, lipstick, eyeliner, base, and rouge all at once. No, it was, like many things, a combination of things from ages past.
The Egyptians were the first to use cosmetics. That was four thousand years ago. Good hygeine and appearance were extremely meaningful to the people of Egypt. The Egyptians had the belief that the appearance was in direct juncture with the well being of the spirit. They strived to constantly look and smell good. And with a civilization who values their looks, societies are inevitably going to have members who are going to attempt to stand out. But the Egyptians, being the inventive culture they were, implemented cosmetics for reasons that were even more practical than just attempting to look great.
A combination of lead ore and copper known as Mesdemet was the origin of eye shadow. The dark shades they believed would ward off evil eyes from their own. It was also a great disinfectant and bug repellent. Kohl was a dark substance that was also put on around the eyes in an oval shape. It was a combination of lead, ash, ochre, copper, and burnt almonds. A mixture of red clay and water was added to the cheeks to further enhance their appearance. They would also paint their fingernails shades of orange and yellow with a substance named henna.
As civilizations started to interact with each other more often, the art of make-up was picked up by the Greeks from the Egyptians. They would give themselves a pale shade with a base that contained lead in it. This ended up being terminal more than once. As the Romans started to pick up the cosmetics practice, the pursuit of beauty became much less about functionability and took a turn into much more unusual routes. They would decorate their nails with a combination of sheeps blood and heated body fat. An old Roman citizen once said, A woman without paint is like food without salt.
Centuries after the Egyptian empire faded, the fashion standard worldwide was a white complexion. A dark, rough face was associated with being a plebeian who worked out in the field all day beside her spouse. The upper class women obviously did not participate in hard work like that so they stayed under the roof and had light complexions.
Wealth was often measured by a person's white complexion. If people had enough money, then you did not have to work. So a light skin tone was very crucial to some members of society. To get this look, ladies (and men as well) would use a combination of hydroxide, lead oxide, and carbonate in a powder form to paint their faces and bodies. Unfortunately, this caused a sometimes lethal side effect, lead poisoning. To cure this problem, chemists in the nineteenth century at last created a mixture of zinc oxide that did not block the skin from being able to breathe and kept people out of that aggravating lead poisoning death. It was so effective that it is still used today by cosmetics manufacturers.
Lavish and glamorous parties were held by urban ladies with disposable wealth in the Edwardian era of London. As hostesses of the party, it was important for them to be the most attractive woman at the event, so it was very important for them to look as youthful as they possibly could. City and excessive lifestyles with factors like smoggy air produced by the cities at that time, unhealthy diets, and very little or no exercise aged the women quickly. Anti-aging and facial creams to hide the imperfections were heavily relied upon by women in this era. They would also travel to the salon. It was a bit different back then than it is in the present. Ladies would go into the back entrance of the salons and cover their faces as they went in. One of the most famous of these discreet beauty houses was the House of Cyclax, that would sell foams and blushes to ladies. Mrs. Henning, who was the owner, sold and came out with multiple products for her desperate customers who did not want anybody to know that they were getting old.
The modern day woman is the benefactor of all these years of mistakes with a virtually unlimited choice of beauty products for any look they want to achieve. There are thousands of companies who create products in this now billion dollar yearly industry. Skin Care products sell all year and even in times of recession. Therefore ladies, give thanks to your ancestors and their concern for their own looks for yours that you have nowadays. They probably didn't feel like putting on their face some mornings either.

Unblemished and perfectly made up face require a perfectly matching foundation. The important thing to remember here is that the foundation you apply should be an exact or a very close match to your skin tone. The foundation needs to blend into your skin, easily, and give you an even and clean surface to work on. Before you buy a foundation, check it under natural light only because artificial lights can deceive you into buying a foundation which doesn’t match your skin tone at all! Next important thing is to pick a foundation that is specially formulated for your skin type. As a bride, picking up a concealer can be a good idea because you probably won't get much shut-eye on the eve of your marriage ceremony. Mix a little concealer with your foundation to ensure it blends smoothly and evenly in your skin. Face powder is a great product to get rid of extra shine and should be used sparingly and only when required. So keep your powder box at hand, if possible, through the ceremony day. Remember to use it just before you get your pictures.
Eyes: Best colors for eyes include muted and neutral colors that compliment the color of your dress, accessories, and lip color. Open up your eyes and make them look bigger by using a white or light colored eye shadow on the inside edges. Don't use too much glitter, though a light shimmer along your cheekbones can enhance your appearance. Finish up the eye makeup with a dash of waterproof eye liner and waterproof mascara. You can also use false eyelashes if you want to.
Lips: Lip color forms an important part of your bride look. Use a lipstick shade that is slightly brighter than the color you usually wear so that it shows up nicely in your photos. Practice wearing the lipstick a few time before the wedding day to get comfortable. A touch of gloss and make your lips look fuller and enhance your lipstick color as well. Keep your lipstick on for longer by apply a matching lip liner all over your lips just before you apply the lip color.
Finally, get your hair done before you get the makeup as this will help you apply the make up better and make you look a million dollars on one of the best days of your life!!

Steaming is beneficial for cleaning all types of skin. It cleans the skin of all surface dirt, stimulates the circulation and unclogs blocked pores. If your skin is dry, steam your face once a week. It can be used every day if you have a very greasy skin. Electrical devices are available to produce steam and this process is known as Sauna Facial.
Steaming can be taken by leaning over a large bowl of boiling water, by covering your head with a towel and making a tent around the bowl. The steam will open the pores, loosen blackheads and bring spots to a head. Do not get to close to the boiling water, for if the steam is too hot, it might cause broken veins. To make steaming more beneficial, add a tablespoon of herbs to the water. Elderflower and camomile are the old favorites for this. You can also try lavender, thyme and rosemary for a stimulating cleanse. These herbs smell delicious. Steam your face for about ten to twenty minutes. By steaming blackheads come out of the pores and it becomes easy to extract them.
If you suffer from pustular acne, I would not advice steaming as the steam and heat can spread the infection. If you have been extracting blackheads use a facemask containing curds, kaolin, cucumber or comfrey, as these are astringent and healing.

For years, women have witnessed and embraced the technological explosion that is the anti-aging face care category. In fact, it seems there is a cream or serum designed to diminish every possible telltale sign of aging that appears on the face.
But what about the rest of the body? Women are so concerned with laugh lines and crow's-feet that they tend to neglect caring for the body's skin. The truth is women love having beautiful, smooth, touchable skin all over their body, even below the neck. It's the difference between high collars and plunging necklines.
Also, with the expansion of the anti-aging market, there are many ingredients saturating this category. However, there is one breakthrough ingredient on the top of the list. Creatine is a vital anti-aging ingredient found naturally in the skin and provides energy to the cells. Over time, the creatine supply in the cells depletes and causes skin to become dry and rough and then increases the appearance of lines and wrinkles on the hands, chest and upper arms. Therefore, when creatine is applied topically, it has anti-aging benefits and is clinically proven to lift the skin and diminish the visible signs of aging.
Nivea body Age Defying Moisturizer is an anti-aging product for the body made with the skin's own creatine. It works to replenish the creatine level in the skin, boosting the skin's natural anti-aging power. Skin is soft, smooth and noticeably lifted with less visible wrinkles.
It's no secret that healthy skin is important to maintaining a youthful appearance. So in addition to caring for the face when it comes to aging, women should start paying attention to their entire body, from head to toe. What woman doesn't want beautiful, smooth, touchable skin?

Giving a new twist to artificial fingernails is the use of Solar Nails. Though more expensive, the use of these nails are definitely worth your money. Not only do they look natural despite the fact that they are artificial, they also last longer compared to cheaper varieties of artificial fingernails.
Solar Nails are the upgraded counterpart of Acrylic or artificial nails. It is applied quite differently from Acrylic nails. Where Acrylic nails are placed on the nail bed, the Solar variety are applied in a two step process. The white tip is placed first, followed by the pink natural-looking artificial nail. Due to its appearance, Solar variety nails commonly resemble a French manicure.
There are a lot of advantages when you choose to have Solar artificial nails applied. First of all, unlike artificial nails these variety need to be refilled only once every three weeks. This is a more convenient option especially if you cannot invest the time to constantly have your artificial nails refilled. Refilling your nails less often is also a much more economical choice.
Tanning doesn’t have to be a problem when you put on these upgraded artificial nails variety. Unlike Acrylic nails that turn yellow when exposed to too much sun or radiation from tanning salon, Solar nails do not turn yellow at all. Making it look more appealing together with your perfectly tanned skin. This nail investment will surely not go to waste.
Solar artificial nails are also known for their durability. They do not chip easily like Acrylic nails. Since Acrylic nails are applied on the nail beds, when the nail grows the artificial nail has a tendency to break. With the Solar variety, you get longer lasting nails. Another plus for Solar artificial nails is that they do not possess the potential to damage your real nail. As these nails are not extensions like Acrylic nails, it won’t damage your real nails no matter how long you have the Solar variety applied. There are a lot more advantages to Solar artificial nails such as a natural shine that does not require nail polish and the option of freehand designs on your newly applied nails. So choose wisely because when beauty is on the line, Solar Nails will definitely not let you down.
A healthy body is just enough for everyday life but a fit body is one that can do even more. It is capable of
eliminating the toxic substances generated by its normal functioning and imposed on it by an unnatural lifestyle. In retrospect,
an unhealthy body is when you don’t care enough about yourself to take care of your body. The way to a healthy body is through
fitness exercises and a proper diet.
Diets and weight loss programs are generally more flexible now than they once were. Dietary changes combined with exercise
programs and supplements will result to a long-lasting weight loss. The American Cancer Society recommends a predominantly plant-based
diet that includes a variety of vegetables, fruits, and grain-based foods for nutrition and prevention for certain types of cancers.
Diets are better when tailored personally and professionally to the client's individual needs.
Fitness represents an evolution in home fitness moving beyond one-dimensional fitness videos and self-help books as it is truly personalized.
Fitness involves one’s physical capacity, age, and endurance, so exercise should aim to elevate one’s rate of heartbeat and breathing
during the workout. The five basic components of physicalfitness: cardiorespiratory or aerobic endurance, muscular endurance, muscular
strength, flexibility, and body composition, are explained. Fitness is also about good nutrition, flexibility, relaxation,
sleep, and more.
Health is the first principle of a good life and living well and honestly is the way to excellent health. Healthy weight loss is possible when you combine a healthy diet with a regular exercise regime. Healthy lifestyle habits including mental stimulation, physical exercise, good nutrition, stress management, and sleep can improve brain fitness. Thanks, Anne, for your lessons on healthful
eating, and most of all, your encouragement.
A nutritionist and a professional weight loss consultant with more than 23 years experience. Anne Collins is arguably the best
value downloadable diet program on-line. Anne Collins is offering nine various diet plans, the South Beach Diet teaches you the "good"
carbohydrates, and with the Atkins Diet you can eat everything you like and stay fit in the same time.
Compared to many other weight loss eBooks on the market, Anne Collins is a better choice.
What would you do if you could achieve the benefits of a professional skin care treatment at home for a fraction of the cost of a visit to the doctor or aesthetician? Cancel your next appointment, of course!
Today, at-home skin care kits are becoming more popular and more advanced, giving consumers an affordable option for looking beautiful.
"There is a significant increase in the number of women who are looking for affordable, at-home, anti-aging alternatives to professional treatments," said Dr. Lydia Evans, consulting dermatologist for L'Oreal Paris.
One of the most requested and most expensive cosmetic procedures today is microdermabrasion, a treatment in which irregularly shaped aluminum oxide crystals are used to exfoliate dead skin cells, lifting them up and off of the skin's surface.
With professional microdermabrasion, it takes typically four or five treatments to really see the results, and that can add up to about $1,000 or more.
If you want similar results at home, Evans recommends L'Oréal's ReFinish Micro-Dermabrasion Kit, which uses the same crystals as the in-office treatment and also contains a biosaccharide complex, a component that helps prevent irritation and soothes the skin. This product is designed for anyone who is looking to achieve fresh, glowing skin or reduce the signs of aging.
The price tag? L'Oreal ReFinish rings in at a suggested retail price of $24.99.
Another procedure that has become increasingly popular over the past several years is Botox, a treatment in which injections are made into the skin to decrease expression lines, like crows feet. Not only is the needle involved in this procedure intimidating, but it also comes with a hefty price of approximately $500 or more per session.
An alternative at-home treatment comes in the form of L'Oreal's Wrinkle De-Crease which helps reduce the appearance of those pesky lines caused by our everyday facial expressions like smiling and frowning.
You'll be happy to know there are no sharp objects involved in this kit - it's a cream that can be used in the morning or at night and even under makeup. And with a suggested retail price of $19.99, it's lighter on the wallet as well as the skin.
If you've been considering professional skin care treatments but haven't gotten around to making a doctor's appointment, head to your local drugstore and give these time- and money-saving options a try. - NU
Plant nutrients play a key role in anti aging. Fruit, vegetables, and plant extracts have an array of chemical constituents, called phytochemicals or phytonutrients, that are hugely beneficial to skin health and beauty.
In plants, phytochemicals confer characteristics like color, which can help the plant by providing an attractive beacon to passing bees to help in pollination. Or they offer a protective effect to the plant to prevent insects from harming it, or repel grazing animals. But they have often been found to have benefits for human health when analyzed in laboratories. It is these chemicals in plants that make fruit and vegetables so much more valuable than simply the macro nutrients like vitamin C.
Antioxidants are one class of phytonutrients, though there are many. Antioxidants work by supplying an extra oxygen molecule to those molecules that are missing one, called free radicals. If antioxidants don't supply the missing oxygen molecule to free radicals, the free radicals will take an oxygen molecule from another compound in the body, making one that was previously healthy and intact itself a free radical. Free radicals are not 'baddies', simply unstable chemical molecules, but the effect they have on the body is negative, as they can damage cells. Free radicals are produced as a normal by product of the metabolic processes of our cells, as well as by our immune system as it counteracts the effects of pathogens and the environment.
The trick is to keep the balance in the body where there is enough of a supply of antioxidants to cope with the body's production of free radicals.
Free radicals affect the skin in three main ways. They can alter the fatty layers in your cellular membranes. These fatty layers provide structure to the cell, and control which nutrients and other agents can pass in and out. They can alter the DNA within cells, which aside from the potential to develop into serious illnesses, can make your skin inclined to wrinkles and sagging before its natural biological time. Altered DNA creates a blueprint for collagen and elastin fibers that don't function as healthy, normal ones would. And to compound matters, the skin's pores need healthy collagen and elastin fibers to stay tight and small. So another undesired result is open, large pores.
Free radicals also lead to a process called the cross-linking of collagen fibers. This occurs in the skin's dermis, as a result of collagen and elastin fibers becoming hard, thick, and then binding together. Cross-linked fibers create wrinkles, skin sag, and cause your regular expression lines to become etched in your face as a permanent fixture. With healthy collagen and elastin fibers these expression lines would simply disappear once you moved your facial muscles in a different way. And enzymes that metabolize collagen are encouraged by free radicals, which, given the importance of collagen in youthful looking skin, is best minimized.
Other phytonutrients in plants that are of importance to skin beauty are carotenoids and flavanoids. Flavanoids are great for the health of blood vessels. They strengthen the capillaries that supply important nutrients to the skin's cells, as well as supporting cellular membranes. Healthy cell membranes regenerate quickly, and slow the aging process. Carotenoids also strengthen cell membranes. It seems carrots are not just good for eyesight! And flavanoids help reduce inflammation, as well as increasing levels of glutathione, which is an antioxidant.

nly if you take proper care of your nails will they look good. To keep your nails healthy and good all the time you will have to work hard on them. While at home, you can use a nail file, which is available in different sizes, shapes and designs.
To make your nails look beautiful, you can apply nail polish or use art nails. Art nails are basically fake nails that you can stick on your nail. Art nails are available in hundreds of designs and colors. You can choose from a floral design to a silvery tattoo design. You can even wear art nails that match with different dresses. As for nail polish, they are available in hundreds of colors and great shades. You can find every color from red to navy blue to even black. You can also find nail polish in glossy colors or with matte finish. One of the salient points of nail polish is that it can hide any flaw in your nail and at the same time provide a protective cover.
One of the most common types of nail polish is the base coat, which will prepare your nails for the actual solid color nail polish. The base coat will also protect your nails from getting discolored due to a color nail polish. The top coat of a nail polish also known as the clear coat is normally used on dry nail polish for protecting and hardening the color. It will protect the color from chipping off.
Tips for keeping your nails in great condition
How do you get really stunning nails? Well! There is no magic involved. Here are a few tips that will help you to keep your nails in good shape and they will look great too:
* You can apply some nail varnish remover just prior to coloring your nails. You can use the varnish even if you don't need to remove your old polish. The main function of the varnish is that it will make your nails look better by removing any kind of dirt or grease. This will also help the nail polish to last longer and not ship off.
* French manicure is considered as the best treatment for your nails. There are times when you might have problems in achieving the right and the most perfect type of French manicure. In such a scenario what you can really do is use a white nail pencil just underneath your nail tip instead of the white polish you have been using so far. This will make your French manicure much easier.
* Always ensure that the waiting time after application of a nail varnish is long so that each layer gets enough time to dry. This will also ensure that you get a lasting finish.
* To remove excess nail varnish, always use a cotton bud to remove it from the top of the bottle. This will basically prevent the nail varnish bottle from getting glued shut
* There is several beauty and cosmetic companies that sell nail polish with matching lip stick colors too. Using the same color on your nails as is the color of your lipstick will definitely enhance your overall appearance. Alternatively, you can even use nail colors that are in contrast with the lip stick colors.
* It is always better to apply numerous thin color coats as compared to a single coat of thick color. Numerous thin coats mean that the nail polish will last longer.
* Avoid removing and then reapplying nail polish more than twice a week. If you remove and apply nail polish thrice or 4 times a week then it will make your nails dry. You can get a remover that has a built-in moisturizer so that you can protect your nails from drying.
* You should give your hand and fingers a little massage from time to time so that the blood circulation is maintained. Good blood circulation means that there will be good nail growth.
* The simplest is the solid color manicure. It employs the use of mild solid nail colors and basic neutrals.
The most important thing is that you should eat healthy so that the color of your nails doesn’t become yellowish. As long as you maintain a healthy diet with lots of vegetables and fruits, your nails will look beautiful, healthy and will have a pink tinge to it. To make your style statement bolder, you can wear a different color on your finger nails as compared to your toe nails. At the end of the day, coloring your nails is just another way of pampering your self.
Health insurance is designed to offer financial protection against losses experienced due to illness, accidents, or injury. This type of insurance comes in many forms that offer differing levels of coverage. It can be purchased as part of a group policy or may be purchased by an individual.
Group policies are generally purchased through an employer, associations, or unions. They may be less expensive because the costs associated with administration are reduced. In addition, the employees or association may pay part of the premium.
Group health insurance has become an incentive for potential employees who are trying to cover their or their families' health care expenses. Some policies offer managed care. Depending on the policies of a managed care provider, preventative health care may be part of the plan. Preventative measures may include regular checkups.
Individuals may purchase individual health insurance polices in the absence of company provided benefits or if they are self-employed. Generally individual health plans can be more expensive, however, they also have some benefits.
For example, individual policies can be customized for your specific needs. Shopping around for health insurance can be helpful by allowing you to compare the benefits and cost of different types of coverage. Consulting with caring agents will help you determine the policy that is best for you and what level of coverage you'll need.
You may be able to save money on the premium of your policy if you carry a higher deductible. The deductible is the amount of out of pocket expenses you pay before your coverage begins.
Health insurance can cover a variety of expenses. For example, it may pay for the cost of hospitalization or surgery. It may also pay other hospital expenses such as the cost of the hospital room.
All health insurance policies are not equal in this regard. Some policies will pay a flat rate daily for the cost of a room. Other types may pay everything after the deductible for the room.
Health insurance may also cover expenses due to a disability, and may cover rehabilitation such as physical therapy, or aftercare. Disability insurance, a type of health insurance, may pay expenses for loss of income in addition to health care expenses.
Some policies also provide benefits for medication or necessary medical devices such as a pacemaker. Also, some contemporary health insurance policies provide some dental coverage. However, it's important to note that levels of coverage will vary between policies, sometimes significantly.
Health insurance may also cover you for existing conditions; however there may be up to a year delay before coverage begins for policies of people with pre-existing conditions.
Health insurance may seem like an undue expense when you are young and healthy, but it's invaluable when you need it most. Consult with a health insurance agent to make sure you have a good understanding of the benefits of your plan. They can help you answer any questions you may have about the conditions and benefits of your policy.
It can also be helpful to compare a number of health insurance companies, so you can get the best policy for your individual needs at the lowest rate.
Becoming educated about your policy from enrollment on can help reduce stress levels during a medical emergency. In this way you can also be more proactive with your own care. And you can have peace of mind knowing that if an unexpected situation happens, you will be covered.

If you have sensitive skin you may find that many of the treatments you try are too harsh for your skin. While other women are buying skin care products with vitamin C or anti-oxidants, you are using the mild brand with no anti-aging benefits.
So, what can you do about it? How can you, with your sensitive skin, get the same anti-aging effects that other women are getting?
Rather than applying expensive anti-aging products on your skin, you can eat them. Now, of course, I don’t mean for you to eat your expensive night cream or any other store-bought skin products, but you can eat the effective ingredients in them. Since your skin is your largest organ, the benefits of eating the ingredients will be similar to applying them directly to your skin.
Here are some ingredients you can start with.
Green tea: There are plenty of skin care product now that contain green tea. You’ll hear about green tea everywhere and it’s now in many brands of skin care. However, if you have sensitive skin and can’t use those products, then you can drink green tea and have the same effects on your skin. Plus, the bonus is that you’ll be benefitting every other part of your body as well. Some of the other benefits of green tea are weight loss, lower cholesterol, and possibly a lower risk of cancer.
Cucumbers: An increase in fruits and vegetables in your diet can have a positive effect on the overall appearance of your skin. Increase your vegetable intake and your skin will thank you. The side effects of this option? Well, you may lose some weight and feel more energy, but that's not such a bad thing, is it?
Vitamin C: Take a supplement or increase your intake of oranges and other fruits. The anti-oxidants in them are wonderful for your skin.
Remember, your skin is your largest organ. Take care of it by feeding it well, whether you’re putting products on it, or feeding your body with nutritious foods. And, for those of us with sensitive skin, we’ll be saving a fortune, avoiding those expensive jars of cream and instead heading straight for the grocery store produce aisles.
We've all heard the old adage, "You are what you eat." But what about the connection between your food and your face?
Most articles about nutrition focus on the role of your diet in maintaining optimum internal health and warding off disease. For example, many articles talk about how the antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables can fight free radical damage to your immune cells, your organs and your DNA.
Well guess what? The same phytochemicals, vitamins, nutrients and minerals that keep your insides in the pink are equally essential for clear skin, bright smiles, strong nails and clear eyes. If you want to look your absolute gorgeous best, keep these diet guidelines in mind:
* Antioxidants: Found in abundance in colorful fruits and vegetables, these nutrients help combat signs of aging caused by the oxidation - the rust, if you will, of our cells. Beauty foods that are potent sources of antioxidants include: pomegranates, prunes, concord grape juice, blueberries, blackberries, purple cabbage, kale, brussels sprouts, dried plums, kiwis, raspberries, strawberries, raw spinach, oranges, apples and watercress.
* Essential fatty acids: Certain polyunsaturated oils are called "essential" because they must be included in our diet. EFAs, like omega-3 and omega-6, may reduce inflammation that can clog skin and lead to wrinkles. Sources include seafood - such as salmon, sardines, trout and flounder - as well as almonds, walnuts and flaxseed.
* Avoid simple carbs: Some research suggests the insulin spike caused by simple carbohydrates, such as bread, pasta and sweets, may trigger a series of metabolic reactions that can lead to breakouts.
* Maximize water, moderate alcohol: Water, and lots of it, will help keep your skin hydrated, while alcohol in excess of one 4-ounce drink a day can dry it out. Also, some dermatologists say alcohol's dilation of fragile facial capillaries can cause and exacerbate rosacea.
* Healthy fat: While it's always important to minimize artery-clogging saturated fat, don't shy away from healthy monounsaturated fats, like olive oil and other liquid, plant-based oils that keep skin emulsified.
* Vitamin C: Make sure to also feed your face with vitamin C to help maintain collagen, the most important component of connective tissue contributing to the underlying foundation of your skin. The best sources of vitamin C includes citrus fruits and juices, broccoli, cauliflower, cantaloupe, strawberries, tomatoes, red peppers and green peas.
* Weight-loss bonus: Pound for pound, fruits and vegetables have fewer calories than other food groups. Plus, they have plenty of fiber, so they'll help you feel full. Such a fruit-and-vegetable-rich diet helps ward off cravings by ensuring the body gets the full spectrum of nutrients, minerals, vitamins and phytochemicals it needs to function.
Data from the National Weight Control Registry, which maintains records on more than 3,000 individuals who have had success keeping off a minimum of 30 pounds, suggests that the winning diet for long-term weight loss is a low-fat, complex-carb diet rich in fruits and vegetables.
This data was recently reinforced by an international study, conducted by Northwestern University, assessing the diets of more than 4,000 people in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan and China. The study found that, without exception, a diet high in complex carbohydrates, fiber and vegetable protein was associated with low body-mass index.
The bottom line is that there's nothing more beautiful than vibrant good health, and there's nothing healthier than a regime that includes plenty of exercise, rest, water, lean proteins, and an abundance of fruits and vegetables.

Sweat is bodys natural defense to maintain the body temperature. Sweat normally contains water, and very small amounts of salt, urea, sugar and ammonia. By sweating body cools itself of the heat that may get generated because of outside temperature, physical work, and emotional stress. Some diseases can also cause sweating. For that you should consult your doctor.
Over and under sweating- some of us may suffer from over sweating (hyperhidrosis) or very less or no sweating (anhidrosis). Very low sweating may be life threatening, while over sweating may sometimes be caused by some severe body problems.
Types of sweat- our body has two types of sweat glands- eccrine sweat glands and apocrine sweat glands. Eccrine glands are distributed all over the body. Apocrine sweat glands are located on the scalp, armpits and the genital area. These glands do not produce much fluid. Sweat is generally odorless. Most of the times, it is the bacterial disintegration of sweat of both the types that produces odor.
To avoid odor because of sweat, the best method is to keep skin dry. Good hygiene will not allow bacteria to develop and multiply. Change of clothes after sweating is another method, because clothes carry sweat and can cause odor. If you have excessive sweat or are getting troubled by sweat, please consult your doctor who may suggest different methods that may include use of antiperspirants, botox injection, Iontophoresis and in rare cases surgery.
Sweat is not a big problem for most of us. It is the odor that is the bigger irritant. Keep your body clean at all the times and take basic care and you will find most of the problems disappearing. Deodorants do not reduce sweat but only mask the odor with fragrance. the need is not to mask but to stop bacterial disintegration of sweat and if sweat is excessive, to consult doctor and get treated.

As we grow older skin starts coming out with different growths and spots. Skin tags are one such product of ageing. The exact cause of skin tags is not known. They are also known as Acrochordons. Skin tags look like small growths hanging with a stalk. These fleshy bumps are ugly in appearance and cause lot of mental discomfort compared to physical.
Skin tags appear at different places o the body. The common areas are necklines, below the breasts, underarms, groin etc. Skin tags may appear in different sizes. Small tags appear in a bunch, while large tags appear alone. They normally form in cluster of small tags of about a mm to big ones measuring up to a cm.
Consult your doctor about removal of skin tags. Your doctor will remove them with a suitable method that may be either of these four- surgically cutting them, by freezing them, by electro surgery or by tying a suture around the stalk. The choice of removal method depends upon the location and the size of tag and the stalk. The tag removal normally does not lead to any scar formation. The healing is over in a day or two. Please consult your doctor for more details.

Almost all human beings are conscious about their beauty and they adopt all means to improve or maintain it. The quality of skin is having priority in the field of beauty care. Skin is considered as the mirror of the human body and it reflects the physical, mental and emotional status of every person.
The number of people attending beauty clinics and dermatologists is increasing day by day. Even though skin diseases are having low mortality, people are worried about skin problems because of the social stigma. A person having a disease of some internal organ may not be worried but another person having a skin disease on the face may be depressed because of the simple reason 'others will come to know about my disease'.
Human skin has got several functions like protection, heat regulation, water balance, excretion etc. It gives protection and support to the deep body tissues and has got the ability to stretch to some extent due to the presence of protein fibers in the dermis. But too fast enlargement of the body parts cause excessive stretching on the skin resulting in breaking of collagen and elastin fibers of the dermis. This causes slightly depressed discoloration called stria atrophia or stretch marks. Initially these marks are slightly pinkish and later become white or silvery in appearance.
Stretch marks are found in conditions like pregnancy, puberty, obesity etc. It is usually seen in places like abdomen, thighs, breasts, buttocks, shoulders etc. Once these marks appear, time is required for them to be less prominent.
Both men and women are the victims of stretch marks but it mainly affects women due to their beauty consciousness and causes psychological trauma leading to depression. On the other hand there are women who are least bothered to get rid of stretch marks and consider them as a badge of mother hood. Still the number of people visiting clinics to remove stretch marks is increasing day by day. Because of the increasing need for the stretch mark treatment modalities, there are number of products in the market to deal with stretch marks cure. But most of those products are not proved effective scientifically but few of them give results in many cases. Modern treatment methods like plastic surgery and laser surgery for stretch marks have been proved effective in the treatment.

Perspiration and body odor have been of concern for many of us who wish to present a beautiful body to others. Here it is important to note that deodorants and antiperspirants are not the same. Deodorants hide the smell with fragrance. They do not dry the perspiration at all. They also do not prepare the skin for not perspiring. Deodorants will not keep you dry. They will make you feel good with their fragrance and hide body odor.
For keeping yourself dry you have to use antiperspirants. An antiperspirant blocks the sweat ducts and does not allow the sweat from reaching the skin surface. Aluminum chloride has been a choice ingredient in antiperspirants. Many new aluminum compounds are now being used as active ingredients in antiperspirants and the newest is Aluminum Zirconium Tetrachlorohydrex Glycine.
The ideal anti perspirant should be water soluble, free of any fragrance and contain ingredients that are not normally allergy forming. As the areas where antiperspirants are usually y applied such as underarm, is moist and warm, with skin layers upon layers and having thin epidermis, the ideal antiperspirant should be highly non irritating for most of the users. it should also not leave any deposit after drying.
If you have any allergy to fragrances, dyes, contact, please use antiperspirants with care. Diabetics should use these products after consulting their doctor. If you have sensitive skin or have tendency for eczema, please consult your doctor before using antiperspirants.

Looking for that perfect skin product? One that will keep your skin looking great, smells great, is appealing to apply, has actual 'therapeutic' effects, and doesn't break the bank? Look no further than aromatherapy. Creating a wonderful blend just for your skin type with the magic of potent natural botanicals is fun and rewarding in more ways than one. Essential oils are widely used in natural medicine, and some are well-known for their skin rejuvenating effects.
While some of the most highly regarded therapeutic grade oils may seem expensive at first, they are effective in such small concentrations as to really make them worthwhile. And their efficacy is well-known; that's why so many laboratory-made preparations use components of essential oils in their formulas. With a one or two ounce bottle to mix in, and an eye dropper, you can easily mix your own blend with the aroma and actions you desire most.
There are a few essential oils most often used in skin care recipes – you can pick and choose from among these depending on your desired results. Other essential oils may be added to enhance the aroma of your blend; many oils used to do so are also are know to relieve tension or bring about a healthy state of mind – and most natural clinicians will tell you that beauty starts from the inside-out. So make something you love the smell of that also helps your skin glow!
These few primary skin care oils include the following: Helichrysum italicum – the oil of this flower is one of the most highly regarded in aromatherapy for it's great versatility. It has a pleasant aroma, it contains rare 'di-ketones' which stimulate the skin's natural metabolism, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory (all tissue damage and aging is associated with inflammation on a cellular level). Lavender oil – 'true' or 'French' Lavender is the most used oil in aromatherapy today because of it's great multitude of effects. Like Helichrysum, it contains regenerative ketones; it reduces inflammation; it speeds wound healing; AND it has an aroma very well known for its relaxing effects – easing tension while healing your skin – could you ask for more? Next up is Rosemary of the 'verbenone' type. It also contains ketones (that the cineol type does not) and is known as a circulatory and metabolism stimulant, increasing the flow of nutrients in, and waste products out, of your skin cells. Palmarosa essential oil is included in many blends for it's gentle cleansing and antiseptic properties. And last but not least, Carrot Seed oil is the premier oil for regenerating tired, lifeless skin – often a result from too much stress or high levels of pollutant exposure.
There are several other oils with positive effects on the skin (some will be mentioned in the blends below), these just happen to be the most often used. With research, you can find essential oils that will address particular skin conditions that are not covered here. Further, there are in fact hundreds of essential oils available, each with it's own unique composition and aroma. Adding a little to your blends simply for their fragrance influence is highly recommended. A few drops of precious oils like Jasmine, Neroli, Sandalwood or Rose can create that aromatic combination you simply love, and will want to wear all the time.
The essential oils are almost never applied to the skin undiluted (Lavender is a rare exception). Instead, they are added to what are known as 'carrier' or 'base' oils. Diluting the essential oil in carrier not only stretches your dollar, but the oils actually are more effective this way! Research has shown that most essential oils have the most dramatic therapeutic effects at concentrations of less than 5% of the total blend. And the carriers have their own positive effects; besides helping your skin absorb the essential oils, they provide nutrients such as essential fatty acids, and vitamin compounds which enhance the skin's health.
Some of the more commonly used carrier oils in skin care are as follows: First is Hazelnut oil – pressed from, obviously, Hazelnuts. This is considered the most gentle of the carrier oils, suitable for all skin types. It often serves as the primary base oil in blends, making up a majority of the mixture. Next is Rosehip seed oil, pressed from Rosehip seeds grown in the mountains of South America. This well researched oil not only has a wealth of essential fatty acids, but contains trans-retinoic acid, a compound similar to the active ingredient of Retin-A (a well known wrinkle cream), but without the drying side effects. Lastly we'll mention Evening Primrose oil, often included in blends for aging skin and for eczema – it has one of the highest known concentrations of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an essential fatty acid which may be crucial to optimal health.
So there are the primary ingredients, and the reasons behind them. With these, and a few of your own personal touches, you can create a great variety of blends. To go ahead and start mixing, acquire a one or two ounce dark glass bottle to mix in, an eye dropper and a small funnel (you don't NEED this, it just makes the whole process a lot less messy). For the first recipe, we'll start with a blend that's for daily use for all skin types. It's created to give the skin health and vitality, while keeping it clean and beautiful: Pour one ounce of Hazelnut oil into your mixing bottle (double all the ingredients if you'd like to make two ounces). Add fifteen drops (about 2/3rds of a milliliter) Thyme essential oil of the Linalool chemotype (be sure to get this kind, as other types of Thyme are to strong to use on the skin). The add fifteen drops each of Rosemary verbenone, Neroli (or a high-quality Petitgrain – distilled from the same plant as Neroli with a lower cost), Spike Lavender (almost a cross between true lavender and sage – excellent for it's antiseptic properties). While originally created as an acne-clearing blend, it did so well for so many folks it is now used as a basis for healthy 'normal' skin as well.
For overly sensitive and damaged skin (from chemicals or other means) and for skin with weak capillaries (showing spider veins may be a symptom), start with a 5:1:1 ratio of Hazelnut, Rosehip Seed and Evening Primrose oils (3/5 ounce Hazelnut, and 1/5th each of the other oils). Add fifteen drops each of German Chamomile, Helichrysum italicum, true Lavender, and Roman Chamomile. This blend will enhance the regenerative capability of the skin through the action of the Helichrysum and Rosehip seed, provides nutrients through in the Rosehip seed and Evening Primrose, and reduces the inflammation which accompanies any type of damage and aging.
For clearing excessively oily and acne-prone skin, to one oz. of Hazelnut oil, add fifteen drops each of Myrtle essential oil (use the green, rather than red, variety), Eucalyptus Dives, Spike Lavender, and Rosemary verbenone. The Myrtle is special in that it dissolves the sebum clogging skin pores, and the Eucalyptus calms the output of the sebaceous (oil-producing) glands.
If your skin has no particular 'condition', but appears tired, lifeless, pallid, or 'worn out', try mixing one-fifth ounce of Rosehip Seed and four-fifths ounce Hazelnut oil. Then add 15 drops each of Carrot Seed essential oil (also known as Queen Anne's Lace or Wild Carrot), Lemon verbena (which helps the skin detoxify), Niaouli (gently tightening the skin), and Rosemary verbenone – this creates an excellent restorative blend. For aging skin needing firming that can be used around the eyes – try this more gentle variety: Mix in five ounces of Hazelnut oil and one ounce of Rosehip seed oil, add fifteen drops of each of Myrtle essential oil (green), Cistus or Rock Rose and Rosemary.
So there are a few tried-and-true aromatherapy skin care blends to use in your natural beauty regime. You can easily mix and match the oils described to create your own blend, and add any oils you really like the aroma of (be aware that a FEW essential oils are VERY strong, and should not be used on the skin – the more common of these include Cinnamon, Clove, Oregano, and Red Thyme – consult with a knowledgeable practitioner if you are unsure about the safety of any oil). A word about purchasing oils for your blends – do NOT use anything labeled as a 'fragrance oil' – these are synthetic reproductions of essential oils that will likely cause an allergic reaction. DO seek out a reputable source. And oils, like wine, do vary greatly from maker to maker. A higher price can mean a significantly nicer oil (though not always) – one that is sweeter, or more well-rounded – only a few oils should smell 'medicinal' – Spike Lavender is a little 'camphorus' in general – but a good Rosemary verbenone should have a very appealing scent . Despite the initial outlay, you are more likely to continue to use a blend that you really like the aroma of, and that has therapeutic effects. Though once you find the oils you adore, you're more than likely to continue the practice of making your own blends for some time to come.
Long, silky, healthy hair can radiate beauty, fitness and youth. A change of hairstyle is often enough to make you look more sophisticated, younger or simply different.
Hair extensions
Hair extensions are becoming an increasingly popular way of instantly getting that long beautiful hair some of us can only dream of! Growing your hair long takes 5-6 years at an average of 1 cm per month! Hair extensions can give you around 21 inches of thick hair in just a few hours!
There are two main types of hair extensions. Hair extensions can be made out of synthetic fibers and are referred to as synthetic hair extensions or out of human hair and referred to as human hair extensions. Human hair extensions tend to be the preferred kind of hair extensions because they look and feel a lot more natural then the synthetic kind. Also, heat cannot be applied to most synthetic fibers causing some inconvenience if a person needs to use some hair appliances. The downside of human hair extensions is that are usually much more expensive then the synthetic ones! Notwithstanding, there is no fixed price for human hair extensions because this differs according to the quality, style and length of extensions required. Hair extensions that are untreated and uncolored usually cost more because they are more durable!
Hair Weaves
A change of hairstyle is often enough to make you look more sophisticated, younger or simply different. Hair weaves are a good idea for those who fancy some braids, dreadlocks or simply a fuller head of hair and a different look!
Hair weaves are another form of hair extensions and can also be made out of synthetic or natural hair. There are three types of hair weaves:
(1)Bonded Hair Weave - This is the least durable kind of hair weave and only lasts 1 month until it would need to be replaced. This kind of hair weave gets glued to the scalp
(2)Braided Hair Weave - This is a 2 step procedure. The natural hair is braided along the center of the scalp (under the hair) and then the hair weave gets sown into the braids. This type of hair weave normally lasts around 2 months.
(3)Fusion Hair Weave - This is the most lasting kind of hair weave, since it needs be changed every 3 months. This procedure involves waxing the hair weave to the natural hair.
Both hair extensions and hair weaves require considerable maintenance. The hair need to be treated with gentle respect and cleaned and moisturized daily with a good conditioner. Remember, that while natural hair gets the necessary oils and moisture from your scalp, hair extensions and hair weaves don’t! Also, depending on the style and procedure for your hair extensions/hair weaves, you might also have to visit the hairdresser every 6 weeks to fix your hair extensions due to your natural hair re growth.
Whichever kind of hair extension you choose, always consult your hair specialist for advice, and pick the safest procedure. Finally, enjoy your beautiful hair!
