My 2 year old daughter is 26 pounds and for the last few months I've had to put her in size 5 diapers even though most 4's are supposed to fit up to like 32 pounds. The reason was because she just PEED SO MUCH! In an hour she'd bust through a diaper with the massive volume of her urine. It was just ridiculous, we were going through 12 a day! So i moved her up to size 5's and that seemed to help her last a little longer. I still had to change her in the middle of the night, though, because she'd wake up every night with a soaked diaper and pj's, even in size 5's.
But THESE DIAPERS - THESE ARE AMAZING. We all get to sleep all night! When she wakes up in the morning THESE diapers - SIZE 4! - aren't even full to their capacity! The box says 15% more absorbent, but i swear they're 200% more absorbent. They're amazing.

Our diapers are made of chlorine free wood pulp fluff, sodium polyacrylate (also referred to as SAP or absorbent gel), polyolefin nonwoven fabric, adhesives, polyolefin film, synthetic rubber elastic strands The color of disposable diapers is typically achieved through the addition of color pigments to their inner and outer cover materials. This is also true for Seventh Generation diapers. While most designs on the market use pigments that result in a white color, we use a small amount of blended color pigments to impart a tan color to our diapers. The blend is proprietary to the supplier of the pigment. To the best of our knowledge, there are no known toxicity issues associated with the use of these pigments in our diapers. Without the addition of color pigments, these materials would be colorless, much like a plastic milk jug. We use brown pigments to help distinguish Seventh Generation Chlorine Free Diapers from others in the marketplace that are bleached with chlorine-containing substances. All disposable diapers, including Seventh Generation’s, rely on man-made materials to deliver the high-level performance that parents expect of modern diapers. These materials are mostly petroleum-derived and are not renewable, which adversely impacts the environmental footprint associated with these products. At Seventh Generation, we are pleased to offer an alternative that is not bleached with chemicals containing chlorine, and are working hard to further improve the sustainability of our diaper products. About Chlorine The wood pulp used in our diapers has not been processed with chemicals containing chlorine. This prevents dangerous chlorinated toxins from being released into the environment through the pulp production process.

I do prefer the packaging of the 135 pack as it's somewhat more sustainable and much easier to store (slide right under the crib). I would love to use 7th generation diapers exclusively and I do feel that the put a lot into the consistency of the products.
I have looked at these diapers as an alternative to conventional disposables for sometime (day care won't let us use our cloth diapers there). I have been skeptical of the Seventh Generation products because I didn't want to pay for a product that was going to perform poorly in comparison to my normal diapers (I have always gone with Huggies Snug & Dry Diapers and have loved them). After using these diapers around the clock here are mine (and my wife's) observations.
- Fit: They fit great compared to the normal diapers we use. My daughter is 25 lbs and she fits snugly in size 4 with no leaks.
- Smell: Some of the other reviewers complained about a weird smell, but we have both found that the mask the pee smell better than our usual diapers
- Absorbency: These work great. We haven't had any blowouts and we have had zero leaks with overnight use.
- Irritation: We have noticed less irritation and diaper rash as a result of these diapers.
- General ease of use: I found them to be less bulky and easier to put on than standard diapers. I also found that the baby had more room in her outfits without the normal bulk and she seems to be able to wiggle her legs more.
I rated them a 4 instead of 5 simply because of the price. I am going to have a hard time justifying the additional expenditure, but I do feel that Seventh Generation offers a superior product here. I will say that I was disappointed to find out that the off-white color is a result of dying and that they are still a bleached paper product (they just use a different chemical process - this is stated on the bottom of the bag). Safety Information

Keep away from any source of flame. Pampers diapers, like almost any article of clothing, will burn if exposed to flame. To avoid risk of choking on plastic, padding, or other materials, do not allow your child to tear the diaper. Discard any torn or unsealed diaper, or any loose pieces of the diaper. To avoid suffocation, keep all plastic bags away from babies and children. If you notice gel-like material on your baby’s skin, don’t be alarmed. This comes from the diaper padding and can be easily removed by wiping your baby’s skin with a soft, dry cloth.

Customer Reviews : Pampers Baby Dry Diapers (Packaging May Vary)

I am a stay at home Mom with 4 children. I have been buying diapers for the past almost 11 years and Pampers Baby Dry is hands down the best diaper on the market, and believe me I have tried them all! All of my kids have been "super soakers" when it comes to pee. These diapers way out perform any other brand including major brands and department store brands. The major selling points for me are:
1. They are thin, easy to pack 5 in a diaper bag.
2. Easy to unfold with one hand (if you, like me frequently have to use the other hand to keep baby still)
3. tabs are easily opened without extra unfolding and don't rip off like several other brands.
4. Doesn't leave residue on baby or smell like pee when really soaked.
5. wider in the front to prevent baby from peeing out the side (and my kids are experts at this)
One thing that may be helpful is to remember that Pampers fit better on children that are long and skinny. If your baby is short and really chubby in the bottom, then Huggies will fit your baby better. This, I believe, explains the few complaints about Pampers not fitting or leaking.
Hope this review was helpful! (Luzu)

effective because it makes you feel less hunger and food intake.

Running a slimming program does not mean that you should reduce your intake of
fast food or even eat. If you want to slim the healthy way and not painful, try
the following strategies:

1. More to chew

Studies show that the longer time you spend to chew, the less amount of
calories you consume. Chewing longer prevent a person to overeat by giving the
brain more time to receive signals from a full stomach. It is not only good for
digestion, but also helps in limiting your portion sizes. Try to chew your food
35 to 50 times in the mouth.

2. Do not miss breakfast

Dense as any activity or work; you should squeeze in time for breakfast.
Remember, your body is not the brain. The body needs to refuel several times
each day. If you skip breakfast, you will feel so hungry at lunch time so you
tend to overeat or may choose unhealthy foods. Skipping breakfast can slow down
the metabolic processes in the body.
Although a "miracle" diabetes diet does not exist to cure the disease, if you have type 2 diabetes, there are dietary rules you can follow that will ensure you stay as healthy as possible. When it comes right down to it, proper nutrition is the only “diet” you need to follow. Many people are inexperienced with following a healthy diet, but once you get into the swing of things, eating properly will become part of your lifestyle.

To start off, it’s best to follow the nutrition guidelines in the Food Pyramid, with special attention to carbohydrate intake. Also, diabetics should maintain a regular meal schedule and exercise portion control.

Starches are allowed in a diabetes diet, as long as you control portions and don’t consume too much starchy food. Starches are present in bread, cereal, and starchy vegetables.

Consume five fruits and vegetables on a daily basis. This can easily be accomplished by eating a piece of fruit for a snack several times a day, or by eating vegetables with dinner. Soups, stir-fries, and chili make good hiding places for veggies if you need clever ways to add more good stuff into your meals.

You can still eat sugars and sweets (perhaps surprisingly) with type 2 diabetes, but do so in moderation, which means once or twice a week maximum. One way to eat fewer sweets without neglecting your sweet tooth is to split a dessert in half.
Fitness has become lately one of the most popular methods of physical training, having now all the rights to claim the status of mass sport. The word comes from English and it crossed over all linguistic barriers, being translated as 'physical shape', 'physical state', 'general physical training', 'health state', etc.

Deriving from women body building, which was losing its popularity, fitness has recently become an official sport. As a performance sport, fitness requires specific native qualities, like any other competitional sport. The most important qualities are: a balanced bone structure, ectomorf or mesomorf somatic type, skills, speed. For those less familiarized with contests in this sport, we mention that in women competition there are three events: evening dress, swimming suit and a floor gymnastics program.

Coming back to mass fitness, we must specify that, to a great extent, its popularity is due to its accessibility. At first, the methods used in fitness were largely adopted from body building, but then they started to differentiate more and more from those of the other sports. Therefore, we now have a specific method in fitness, with a great diversity of exercises.

Another advantage of fitness is that the training programs can be personalized according to the possibilities and objectives of each person. However, there is a constant in all the programs, and that is the balanced development of at least three motion parameters: strength, resistance and mobility - physical qualities which are closely related to the health state that fitness involves. This specification is necessary, because it makes the difference from the doping cases (in these situations, the sportsman's physical shape can be outstanding, while his health state is definitely not).
Read more »Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-9815309218360992562011-10-03T12:03:00.000-07:002011-10-03T12:03:04.925-07:00Baby Hemorrhoids

Baby hemorrhoids are a common thing and one of the many uncomfortable symptoms of pregnancy. These are not hemorrhoids on the baby, but hemorrhoids that the mother to be gets during the 10 months of pregnancy. Even the woman who has never gotten hemorrhoids in the past can experience them during pregnancy, so it's best to be forewarned.

Why do hemorrhoids occur so frequently in pregnant women? Hemorrhoids are caused by undue pressure on the veins in your rectum and intestines below the level of your uterus. When you are pregnant, the growing baby increases the pressure on those veins and arteries. This can cause hemorrhoids and clotting as well as varicose vein and other pressure related problems.

Constipation is another problem common to pregnancy and also a leading cause of hemorrhoids. Should hemorrhoids be caused by the pressure of the baby in the uterus, then constipation can aggravate the situation, inflaming hemorrhoids and possibly causing them to rupture and bleed. It is the straining during constipation that causes the anal canal to push out hemorrhoids instead of the bowel movement – or both.
Read more »Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-11192905532859438502011-10-03T11:55:00.000-07:002011-10-03T11:55:44.033-07:00Diabetes And Its Causes

The customary belief about the etiology, cause, of type 1 diabetes is that although someone may have a genetic inclination for developing type 1 diabetes, environmental triggers such as virus, toxin, drug are responsible to initiate the autoimmune process which causes type 1 diabetes by destroying insulin-producing pancreatic beta cells.

Type 1 Diabetes influences only 5 % of all diabetics. By the researchers point of view it is by far the worst of the two types. In type 1 the cells which create insulin are destroyed - an autoimmune reaction causing dependence on outside sources of insulin. Up till now there is no clinical cure for type 1 diabetes.
Read more »Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-53065326507202523762011-10-03T11:50:00.000-07:002011-10-03T11:50:29.755-07:00Fitness Training

Many people have forgotten that cutting calories means losing weight. Now, you can do this without being hungry!

Wouldn’t it be great if life came with a “How To” manual? Some people think the same is true of dieting. With so many fad diets on the market and so many rules to follow, many people wonder how to diet and lose weight properly.

It can become confusing and overwhelming for a dieter. While some diets praise the virtues of low fat pasta, other diets may view that same pasta as something kin to poison. Carbohydrates are terrible, right? One diet may say to dine on a baked potato rather with fat-free margarine while the other diet says you’d be better off eating a steak. One diet views a turkey sandwich as a healthy choice while the other diet says bread is off limits. It’s understandable why people become confused on how to diet.

When it comes to knowing how to diet, the best strategy is the easiest one. Regardless of all the recent fad diets or the hype you may be hearing about one type of food being a better choice than another, it all boils down to one simple, often overlooked scientific fact. If you’re looking to lose weight, you probably already know how to diet. It’s by the easiest, simplest method … by cutting calories.

If you haven’t heard of this concept in a while, you’re not alone. With all the new diets claiming calories aren’t so important, it’s easy to forget how to diet best. Science, however, can’t be argued. A calorie is the measure of energy we gain from food. To lose weight, you must burn more calories than you consume. So, it doesn’t matter if you have a baked potato for lunch. It doesn’t matter if you have a piece of steak. When figuring out how to diet, you need to start counting your calories.

Some people may be thinking, “That can’t be true. If I ate Hershey bars instead of salads, I’d be sure to gain weight.” You’re right and wrong. Although a Hershey bar isn’t a healthy choice, one calorie from a Hershey bar is the same type of calorie as one calorie from a turkey sandwich. Granted, dining on Hershey bars isn’t how to diet because you’d be racking up a load of calories, but it’s important to realize that calories don’t come in different varieties. It takes just as much work to burn off one calorie of turkey as one calorie of chocolate.

So what’s the best solution on how to diet, and more importantly what’s the sure answer to the pressing issue of how to diet without being hungry? Although cutting calories to lose weight seems great in theory, it’s hard to drastically decrease your food intake when you have a growling stomach.

Now, you can easily follow the best plan on how to diet without being hungry, without dealing with the side effects that accompany diet pills, and without spending a fortune stocking your refrigerator with health food. Although this concept is one that’s new to the market, Hoodia Gordonii, a cactus-like plant with appetite suppressing properties, has actually been around for centuries. Although not originally intended as an answer for how to lose weight, Bushmen ate this plant on long journeys in the African desert to ward off hunger. When animal testing was done on this vegetable in the 1990’s to determine whether it was toxic, the results were surprising. The animals that ingested Hoodia actually lost weight. More studies revealed that Hoodia Gordonii contained an ingredient that cuts the appetite by up to 2,000 calories a day making it easy to lose calories and achieve that physique you’ve always dreamed of. Finally it’s easy to know how to diet without being hungry and without spending a fortune.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-59045401514187031552011-10-03T10:42:00.000-07:002011-10-03T10:48:12.205-07:00How To Lose Weight Quick

How to lose weight quickly is a common enough goal in today's weight obsessed world, but it must be tempered with the need to remain healthy! There is a lot of bad advice being given out by unscrupulous people, so if you really want to know how to lose weight quickly, this article will show you the right way.

How To Lose Weight Quickly Tip 1
If you are serious about trying to lose weight, one of the first steps you should take is to work out your intake of calories. Don't pay any attention to averages, as all people are different. Just work out your own average intake over a period of several days. When you have a reasonable sample of days, you can then work out how much you can cut from this per day to try to reduce your intake. If you can chop off, say, 500 calories, you will be going a long way towards attaining your ideal weight.

How To Lose Weight Quickly Tip 2
No starvation diets – there is a much better way. The human habit of eating three meals a day fits far better with the working day than with man's physiology. The body is not designed to cope with large meals being taken in infrequently. If you eat smaller meals throughout the day, you will find yourself less hungry, you will need to eat less to obtain the same nutrient, and you will lose weight.

How To Lose Weight Quickly Tip 3
Don't eat more than you need to. This all ties in with the idea of the smaller meals. One interesting, and highly relevant fact, is that it takes around twenty minutes before the stomach gives the signal to the brain that it has taken in enough food. So, you can easily be easting superfluous food for twenty minutes. This is made far less important if you eat less more often. Snacking during the day is actually a very good habit to get into, always provided you are eating the right things. Fruit, nuts and seeds make ideal snacks.

How To Lose Weight Quickly Tip 4
Balance your dietary improvements with exercise. The equation is simple enough. If your body gets more food than it needs, the excess is stored as fat. If you take regular exercise, the excess fat will be burnt off. You can, in effect, educate your body to become used to burning fat instead of storing it. Once this happens, weight loss becomes automatic, so long as you maintain your exercise program.

If you need to know how to lose weight quickly, these 4 tips will help you find the right answers. There is no mystery to it, really, so click the links below to discover more resources.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-47613978493009881902011-10-03T10:34:00.000-07:002011-10-03T10:41:43.455-07:00How To Lower Your Cholesterol

The risk of heart disease is greatly increased if you have high cholesterol. This can include potentially fatal heart attacks. Lowering cholesterol is recommended to lead a more healthy life and maintain a healthy heart. High cholesterol causes hardening of the arteries which reduces blood flow to the heart. This may result in chest pains or heart attack.

Favorable cholesterol levels should be less than 200. Anything over 240 is considered high risk. For severely high cholesterol it is recommended to seek consultation with a medical professional for treatment and medications. A physician will test the blood to determine the exact levels and to determine whether drug therapy is necessary. There are a number of drugs available to lower cholesterol. Your physician will be able to recommend one that is best. These include nicotinic acid and cholesterol absorption inhibitors

Most drug therapies are also used in tandem with lifestyle changes. Natural remedies are available in grocery stores, health food stores and pharmacies. Changing eating habits, toxic intake and activity levels will help lower cholesterol.

Low fat foods, especially green leafy vegetables are beneficial in your diet and will help reduce cholesterol. Ensuring a balanced diet from all food groups is ideal. Choose fresh fruits, fish, grains and soy. Avoid foods such as butter, margarine, prepackaged foods, junk foods and fast foods. These types are typically high in trans-fats, which are particularly damaging.

If you smoke, it can increase the chances of having high cholesterol. Quitting will not only help this but will also reduce several other medical risks. Also reduce your total caloric intake and maintain a healthy weight. Regular aerobic exercise will help achieve this. Lower the amount of alcohol consumption. Also, lessening your intake of caffeine such as coffee and tea will help.

There are several vitamins and supplements that can help lower cholesterol levels. Vitamin E, artichoke leaf extract, niacin and chromium are all reported to help control high levels of cholesterol. When using these options while on medication consult a physician for correct dosage. Some natural remedies will also react adversely with certain combinations so it is suggested you disclose all eating habits and dietary supplements to your doctor.

Heart disease is a potentially fatal condition that affects millions of people annually. Reducing the amount of cholesterol in your blood will help lower the risk of a heart attack. Taking medications per your doctor’s orders, making lifestyle changes and taking supplements can vastly improve your odds of remaining healthy.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-31426640932162590022011-06-03T00:33:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:35:12.774-07:00Learning about Ayurveda
It is the science of preventive health (take care of health so that disease does not get a chance to get in) and the living habits that check over indulgence in physical senses, going against conscience and natural resistance to the call of the soul (refusal to enjoy the present moment) .

Ayurvedic Treatment

What if when someone is already ill ? When she revealed that she has been on her journey of self-discovery and has found a new source of spirituality, she also revealed her secret in maintaining her almost eternal youth lookpracticing yoga that is.

But, aside from staying fit through practicing of yoga there is so much more about the discipline that people should know.

THE TRUTH ABOUT YOGA

Before becoming gaga over yoga, you should familiarize yourself first about what yoga really is, its origin, the many underlying premises behind the discipline and how can you benefit from it. Lets start first by defining the foreign word that is yoga. Basically, the word yoga is rooted from a language of ancient India where it is originatedthe Sanskrit. Yoga, in Sanskrit, means union or joining. It can either be a union that occurs between the mind and the spirit, between the body and the spirit or a joining of the mind, body and spirit as a whole.
But, the term yoga can be accurately defined by another Sanskrit word asana the practice of physical poses or postures. Although asana is only one of the eight known types of yoga, both terms are now being taken as one because since both of them are concerned with mental and spiritual well being than in purely physical activity.
Since yoga has been packaged for the Western culture, it is now best described as a general term that includes various disciplines. And now, yoga is more popularly known to people as a form of discipline that varies from one concept to another. The term yoga is now also viewed as a discipline that deals with purely physical abstraction to purely spiritual conquest and to just about everything in between. If you are thinking of practicing yoga to improve your life, you must know hoe to convert its underlying possibilities to your own satisfaction.

THE ULTIMATE YOGA BASICS

If you are really interested with yoga, you should be willing to learn almost everything about it. First of all, you should define why you need it.
Some of the many different styles of yoga that being taught and practiced today include hatha , the slow-paced and gentle style; vinyasa, the breath-synchronized movement style; ashtanga, the fast-paced and intense style of yoga practice; iyengar, bodily alignment style, kundalini, the breath in conjunction with physical movement style; and bikram or hot yoga which is practiced in a 95-100 degree room allowing the loosening of tight muscles and profuse sweating.

Aside from being an effective stress and anxiety reducer, practicing of yoga is also proven to increase strength, create energy, build and tone muscles, improve focus, concentration, and posture, reduce blood pressure, improve memory, and relieve pain.

Another basic thing you should know about yoga is that it requires an exertion or force through different poses. Done through the performance of poses, most people might think that yoga is just about stretching, utmost concentration and weird poses. True, you see people practicing yoga doing some sort of acrobatic stunts, but those stretching are not just simple flexing of muscles: these are creative processes that balance the body to develop agility, flexibility and strength. Since each pose has a specific physical benefit, the poses in yoga can be done in succession to create heat in the body through movement that will build-up an increase in stamina.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-85084864245313754832011-06-03T00:26:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:29:56.690-07:00How To Practice Meditation
Meditation is the most important practice for calming the mind. A calm mind can lead to a healthy, happy and successful life. It can cure diseases and speed up healing processes. We describe the simple technique below called prana-dharana. Prana in Sanskrit stands for the air that we breathe. It is the most basic act of life which starts from birth and goes on till death. But generally, we are not aware of the breath till our attention is drawn close to it. Dharana means its awareness. Prana-dharana means applying the mind to the flow of air when we breathe. The method is as described below:

Sit in a posture suitable for meditation. The common postures are Siddhasana, Padmasana and Swastikasana. But if you cannot do this, just sit cross-legged. Your back should be straight and eyes closed. Your knees should be placed well on the ground. Do not stoop your shoulders back. The whole body should be relaxed and the whole frame steady without exerting any pull or pressure on the thighs, feet, knees, spine or neck. There should be no stretch on tension along the abdominal wall. Let the abdominal wall sway gently back and forth very smoothly and effortlessly with each respiration. Facial muscles should be relaxed and mouth closed with a small gap between the two jaws such that the upper and lower teeth do not exert pressure on each other. Your tongue should touch the palate with tip touching the back of the upper front teeth. Ensure that the lips, tongue or the lower jaws do not move. Your eyeballs and eyelids should be steady and the muscles of the forehead relaxed.

Your entire posture should be comfortable, steady and relaxed. You should not feel strain on any part of the body. Now start developing the awareness of breathing. The flow of air should be uniform, slow and smooth. Do not make any effort or exercise any control. Never hold breath. Do not utter any word or see any image. This will calm your mind and help you achieve peace.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-27113437353540196622011-06-03T00:18:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:23:44.052-07:00How To Meditate With A Mantra
These days whenever a politician repeats a promise over and over again commentators say that this promise has become a mantra for that politician. For the journalists, the word mantra means a meaningless phrase that is repeated endlessly. For yogis however, a mantra is a word or collection of words, which has the power of liberating a human being from all limitations.

How can the repetition of a word or a few words have the capacity to bring about such miraculous results? It is all based on a simple psychological principle, as you think, so you become.

If you someone tells you Youre stupid, thats of course a bad insult and will hurt you. However if you start to think I am stupid, and keep repeating this phrase over and over, then that is far worse. When someone tells you that you are stupid, then this is a negative outer-suggestion. When you start to think about it, then you are giving yourself, a negative auto-suggestion. If you keep thinking in a negative way, then your personal development will be harmed.

Meditation mantras have a positive meaning. They remind you that your true nature is something great: pure consciousness and boundless love. If you start to think about the best part of your being, you will begin to have more confidence in yourself and this will become apparent in your actions.

However, many people have read philosophical, spiritual or self-help books explaining these ideas, and yet they never realize these great truths in their everyday reality. It is not enough to just think about a good idea once, and then close the book. You need to think in a concentrated and systematic manner over a period of time in order to get results.

Meditation mantras have a special quality that helps in the task of concentrated, positive thinking: their very vibration has the capacity to concentrate and focus your mind. Some sounds, such as power drill breaking a pavement, can upset you greatly, while other sounds, like soothing music, can transport you to another world.

The syllables and words used in meditation mantras have been chosen according their sonic capacity, and they greatly aid the task of concentration and contemplation, as well as carrying a positive meaning.

In order to get the benefits from mantra meditation, you need to meditate regularly with a mantra that has a positive meaning and the capacity to help you concentrate. You need to do it on a regular basis, sitting silently two times a day for a period of 10 to 30 minutes.

It sounds easy, but the common experience of most people is that as you sit and try to think about one word or one phrase, your mind is quickly filled with many other thoughts; thoughts about work, financial problems, disputes with people and all kinds of other matters. When this happens, and it certainly will, then you have to bring your mind back to the mantra. Meditation is a process where you concentrate on the mantra and its meaning for as long as you can, and when you mind wanders, you bring it back.

Keep doing it, and you will attain an improved capacity to concentrate and deep inner peace.

It may still sound too good to be true, and some intellectuals scoff at the alleged power of a mantra. Once, a renowned Indian yogi came to America and delivered many lectures on this subject. In one of the lectures he was challenged by someone in the audience who said that it was not possible for a single word to deliver the results that the yogi promised. The yogi turned to the man, who was a distinguished professor and said You fool!

The professor turned red, and began to shout at the yogi, who calmly watched the professor unwind.

The yogi then addressed the professor and said: Now can you understand the power of a single word? All I did was utter the word fool and your behavior was changed in an instant!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-53735768404482469252011-06-03T00:16:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:18:33.388-07:00How To Choose The Best Yoga Videos
Finding the best yoga videos is not as easy to walking down to your local video store and wandering over to the exercise aisle. Not all such videos on the market are ideal for effective home practice. In order to make sure you get the best yoga videos for your home, consider a few things you should really look for.

Easy To Understand

First of all, a quality yoga video will be easy for you to follow. You should be able to understand what is being done, how the positions are achieved, how long you should hold each one, and how often you should do it. It should also be easy to follow into each subsequent move. If you cannot understand the video, then it has failed on its most basic level.

Secondly, videos should provide not only easy to follow instructions, but also easy to understand demonstrations. You should be able to, by watching, understand the basics of achieving each pose and each transition. You should also understand, from watching, the breathing patterns and focus. If you can understand the verbal instructions, but the demonstrations are unclear then your video is no better than a book on yoga.

Next, there should be easy modifications offered in the best yoga videos. Yoga can be difficult, so beginners to it may frequently need modifications to their practice so that they can understand even that which they cannot complete. No matter what your ability level may be, you want your video to be able to apply to you. Once you buy a video, it should be of use to you at every stage as you progress further into yoga. Choose a video that will grow with you.

Teaching Qualilty

In a quality video, the yoga should be taught in a student centered manner. Though that seems like it should go without saying, you will see a number of yoga videos that are just a fancy way of showing off the instructors ability in yoga. Such videos do little if any good and in many cases may even be counterproductive for you. The idea of having the yoga video is to help your development, not to put you in awe of someone elses level of flexibility or fitness.

Finally, high quality yoga videos should feature prominent and well qualified instructors. They should not only be practicing instructors, but should probably have achieved great success in their yoga education. You always want to learn from someone at as high a level as possible. By simply reading the back of the box, you will often get an overview of the teachers qualifications so that you can make an intelligent decision as to whether or not you want this person to help you practice yoga in your home.

Finding the best yoga videos really isnt easy. However, when armed with the tools above, you can more accurately assess a videos value. Look for something you understand visually and orally, that you can use at any level, and that features a successful teacher while staying student centered. When you find that you will have found the best of the best yoga videos for use at home and between private sessions or classes.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-67778834293849364472011-06-03T00:11:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:14:38.531-07:00Confessions of a Yoga TeacherThe following are questions that Yoga teachers still need to answer, despite overwhelming evidence that Yoga is the mother of all health maintenance systems. Mainstream thought is finally catching up, with the progress Yoga is making, but it has taken 5,000 years for us to get this far.

Seriously, How Can Yoga Make You Lose Weight?

Finally, some of the Yoga and Weight Loss studies have come in, and even, a little bit of Yoga is much better, than none, for weight control, but there are a number of reasons why. Yoga is a lifestyle change that includes a safe diet; exercise, adjusting posture, breathing, and a whole lot more. Most of the
Yoga practitioners, I know, consume more water, eat more moderately, and take more care of their bodies, in comparison to the many who dont want to leave the couch.

Arent you supposed to jump up and down for at least a half-hour per day to exercise enough to lose weight?

Maybe the masses have been brain washed into thinking that you have to feel the pain, suffer, starve, and have a near death experience, to lose weight. Depending upon your size, the average person, in a moderate Hatha yoga class, is burning in the neighborhood of 200 calories per hour. There are Vinyasa Yoga classes, that will burn more calories, with much more flowing and active movement. Just remember, that your safety is top priority, and you will be fine.

There are also Yoga classes where you can feel the pain, heat, and suffer.
This is great for those who feel the need to pay for their sins. Maybe this is considered penance, for years of consuming excessive pizza, burgers, and buffets. If you feel you must suffer, you may even find a Yoga teacher who missed his or her calling as an interrogator.

If you search hard enough, you will find a Yoga class for every niche. More moderate Yoga classes look easy on the outside of the class, but I have seen many people find them to be a challenge, on the inside of the class. The real benefit of steady Yoga practice is training for longevity. Long-term practice will yield optimum health benefits in mind, body, and spirit.

Couldnt you just invent a Yoga pill?

This has been the ultimate dream of couch potatoes, but every time a weight loss pill comes out, there is a down side. Just look at the health problems that resulted from fen phen and ephedra. This should wake people up, but someone will always put their life at risk, no matter how many warning labels are printed.

In summary, the benefits of Yoga practice have always existed, through steady and safe practice. Seek out a safe teacher and go from there. Never push yourself to the point of strain. Moderation is key, so it is wise to avoid extremes.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-77950179549195095352011-06-02T23:57:00.000-07:002011-06-03T00:06:31.699-07:00History of Yoga
Yoga is a union of body, mind, and spirit. The history of yoga is long and steeped in tradition. Yoga is an ancient system of health and fitness which originated in India. The word yoga has its first mention in the Rig Veda, the oldest of the sacred texts. Those that study Yoga estimate it's age to be four thousand year.

The history of Yoga can be divided into four main periods which are the pre-classical period, classical period, post-classical period and modern period. In the history of yoga, the book is called the yoga sutras. The history of yoga would not have been completed in the classical stage of yoga.

The word Yoga literally meant the Yolk that joins something together, such as an ox to a cart. The idea is that yoga unites all aspects of being into one.

What most people envision to be Yoga, those contortionist postures, is really only one small aspect of a much larger field of practices. The methods of yoga includes ethical disciplines, physical postures, breathing control and as well as meditation.

The 20th century witnessed a renaissance of yoga that caused a globalization of this ancient tradition. Modern approaches to yoga have created a clear delineation between the Hindu religion and the practice of yoga. Through the practice of yoga, an individual can gain information about physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being.

Over the long history of yoga, different schools have emerged, and there are numerous examples branches and philosophies that have spawned. Ultimately, all agree on one common element the fundamental purpose of yoga is to foster harmony in the body, mind, and environment.

Today yoga is accepted as a comprehensive exercise to promote control of the body and mind. More than just a means of being fit and trim, yoga can help you live a healthy, whole, and empowered life. In recent decades, yoga has greatly and swiftly evolved. Yoga is the most diversified spiritual practice in the world. The living tradition of yoga now recognizes no borders as it continues to spread globally.
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-20673263776596302162011-06-02T16:55:00.000-07:002011-06-02T16:58:06.728-07:00Why rowing machines are used in gyms
Some of the oddest machines in the gym are the rowing machines and, although they are somewhat rare, it is not uncommon to see a skiing machine, too. Many people wonder why these sports have been singled out as being such great exercise why is there no tennis machine, or swimming machine, for example? The answer is that both rowing and skiing exercise your body in a way that other sports dont.

If youve ever met a rower, youll know that they have huge amounts of upper-body strength, and theres a reason for that. Rowing is, in many ways, the ultimate upper-body exercise, comprehensively exercising your arm and chest muscles.

The situation is much the same with skiing and your legs. Because of all the leaning and balancing that is needed to ski successfully, almost all of your leg muscles get a workout from skiing.

While rowing and skiing machines are no match for the real thing, either in terms of how much fun they are or how effective they are as exercise, they serve a useful purpose, because we cant all go rowing and skiing every day. If you use both the rowing and skiing machines in one day, you will get an all-over body workout to more than rival the one you might get on the various weight machines, and the chances are that it will be quicker for you too.

However, with rowing machines especially, you need to be careful about overdoing it. Because rowing tends to feel easier on your muscles than it actually is, its tempting to set too-ambitious targets and tire yourself out completely, perhaps even pulling a muscle. For the sake of your health, take it steady, keeping track of how many repetitions you do on the machine on each visit, and gradually increasing, instead of going all-out one day and doing hundreds more than normal.

Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-27983212590700042072011-06-02T16:51:00.000-07:002011-06-02T16:54:24.293-07:00Trampolines - Fun And Fitness Combined
If you're looking for a new way to add some fun to your backyard activities this season, why not consider a trampoline? Not only are trampolines a lot of fun, but they are also good exercise for you and the kids. And of course, they get the family out of the house, away from the TV, computer and video games and into the fresh air!

Trampolines are good exercise you say? Well yes, they are. Jumping up and down on the elasticized surface is great for strengthening the cardio-vascular system and it is also an excellent workout for almost every muscle and organ in your body. The rebounding action that happens when someone jumps on a trampoline is similar to a low-impact workout, but is easier on the back and joints because you are bouncing on the rubberized mat instead of landing on a hard surface. Jogging on a trampoline instead of the ground is better for you or the kids as well, for the same reason. Exercising on a trampoline can also be very helpful for adults and children because it helps to improve reflexes, flexibility, balance and coordination.

For those who might be concerned about safety issues, there is no longer a need for worry about things like accidentally landing on the ground instead of the trampoline surface either. If you are thinking about purchasing a trampoline, you can also buy a webbed, nylon safety net which fits around the entire circumference of the trampoline to keep all the happy jumpers right where they are supposed to be - on the trampoline. Depending on the size of the trampoline, you can get an appropriately sized safety net which attaches to poles that wrap around its entire perimeter. Then, if a jumper bumps into the net, it pushes them right back onto the trampoline instead having them landing on the ground! No worries!

There's also all kind of accessories you can use to add even more hours of fun to your trampoline activities. How about a basketball hoop that is specially manufactured to attach to the safety net frame? Think about how much fun the kids will have with their friends or siblings bouncing up and down, dunking the ball into the net. Kids love adventure so why not a tent that fits on top of the trampoline? Make it the setting for their next sleep over party. You can set the tent up on the trampoline surface and you've got another safe and fun way to satisfy their quest for excitement. There are even party kits you can purchase that come with all kinds of games that are specially designed for the trampoline. The packs come with things like jump ropes and specially-made, washable chalk for drawing pictures or an oversized tic-tac-toe game on the mat. Or draw a hopscotch board on the mat as another amusing game idea. Imagine the laughter coming from the kids as they hop around the board - priceless.

Trampolines are a fun, safe and healthy new way to entertain yourself and the kids. And you won't have to worry about where they are either because they'll be having a blast, right in your view, right in your own backyard!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5251991880768679060.post-36975050474291672502011-06-02T16:45:00.000-07:002011-06-02T16:50:27.917-07:00Strength Training With Weider Fitness Equipment
If you are looking for an all-in-one strength training workout, Weider fitness equipment et may be the answer that you have been searching for.
